About The Event

Update on The Archaeology of Harriet Tubman and Her Community. After finding the home of Harriet Tubman's father, Ben Ross, MDOT archaeologists are now pointing their shovels in the direction of Tubman's community. Here, archaeologists are collecting the oral histories handed down from the descendants of those family and community members, and searching for the now lost homes of Tubman's neighborhood. Join us for this lecture presented by Dr. Julie Schablitsky, MDOT chief archaeologist, who will provide an update on the archaeological work and new stories gleaned from the Malone's Church oral history project. This event is sponsored by the Howard County Historical Society. The event is free and open to the public. For additional information: www.hchsmd.org/calendar/
