About The Event
Join Archaeologist M. Lee Preston Jr. for an overview about the key sites and artifacts associated with 12,000 years of Native American culture. The entrance of Native Americans into the New World from Asia is chronicled through images that have been excavated by archaeologists. Artifacts associated with Native American adaptive strategies in Howard County include projectiles, arrowheads, knife blades, stone axes, pottery and bone tools. Learn about the techniques utilized by archaeologists to find, date and preserve our prehistory. Examples of diagnostic stone and bone tools and pottery are passed around for hands-on analysis by all attendees. Sponsored by the Howard County Recreation and Parks. Fee $20.00. Pre-Registration is required. If you do not have a Howard County Recreation & Parks account, you will need to create one before you are able to complete the online registration. You can also call our Registration Department at 410-313-7275 to register over the phone. For additional information please email thurd@howardcountymd.gov.
